This recall involves the Cosmic Teether by Manhattan Toy. The product is a combination of a liquid-filled teether and a fabric rattle. The product is intended for infants three months and older. The recalled teether can be identified by item number 203970 and UPC 011964421084.

Hazard Identified
Health Canada requires that infant teether fillings not contain any living micro-organisms. Testing by Health Canada has revealed that the gel filling of the teether may be contaminated with the bacteria Bacillus cereus. These bacteria generally do not cause illness. However, the bacteria can affect children with weakened immune systems, causing stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea, if the teether is punctured and the liquid from the teether is ingested.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.

Corrective Action
Consumers should immediately take the recalled teethers away from children.
